Do you remember your favorite childhood book? From the old classics that have been passed down to kids today to the newer favorite reads that have taken inspiration from pop culture and current events, there’s nothing like getting lost in a good book, especially as a child. Books inspire, motivate, and teach kids the power of literature from a young age, so it’s no surprise that children’s book publishing in the United States is worth $2.6 billion in 2022.

In the United States, “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio” is the most popular children’s book. The New York Times best-seller was first published in 2012 and shines a light on mental health. Starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Jacob Tremblay, the story was adapted into a movie of the same name in 2017.

Canada’s favorite children’s book, “Love You Forever“, was written by Robert Munsch and released in 1995. At only 32 pages long, it may be a popular bedtime story. In Mexico, actor Lupita Nyong’o’s award-winning book, “Sulwe”, is a firm favorite. The picture book is a moving tale that explores colorism and self-esteem.

Antigua and Barbuda’s most popular children’s book is a story called “Summertime Fun” by local author Darlene Beazer-Parker. The book has received lots of praise and five-star reviews. One person wrote: “I bought this book to show my grand children what it was like growing up on the island of Barbuda. It brought back great memories to me. It was beautifully written and illustrated. Enjoyable for adults as well as children.”
