If you love to get lost in a good book while you’re on vacation, you can now take things a step further thanks to one hotel’s first-of-its-kind Book Butler program.

The Ben West Palm‘s Book Butler program will enable guests to select a complimentary brand-new best-selling book and custom designed tasseled bookmark from the in-room Book Butler menu, which will be hand-delivered to the room buy the hotel’s resident Book Butler. In addition, each read can be accompanied by small plates and sweet treats from the special “book bites” menu.

To support local businesses, The Ben West Palm has partnered up with The Palm Beach Book Store to curate the menu which contains four best-selling titles. The menu is a rotating series with new books every quarter, and the program will be expanding to include in-person author readings and a book club this spring.

“During the pandemic, it has been especially important that we continue to connect our customers to books,” said Candice Cohen, founder of The Palm Beach Book Store, in a press release announcing the program. “We look forward to partnering with The Ben to curate a selection of new and topical book titles that relate to the history of the hotel and the city of West Palm Beach, providing a wonderful keepsake for those who are visiting for the first time or who have lived here their whole life.”

The Book Butler program was inspired by the rich literature-filled history behind the hotel, paying homage to Byrd Spilman Dewey, a bestselling author and celebrated columnist who moved to South Florida in 1892 and lived in an estate originally named Ben Trovat.

The menu will offer a mix of fiction and non-fiction reads. Each book available through the Book Butler program is complimentary to guests, who may take the book home with them after check-out or leave it behind to be donated to the West Palm Beach Library Foundation.
