Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there. This adorable 1920s duplex cottage is near Sunset Blvd in the Silverlake neighborhood. It’s nestled away on a secret sidewalk street that makes you feel like you’re miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As a writer I spend A LOT of time at home and wanted to create a cozy, creative environment that is conducive to both work and relaxing.

I’m a very tactile person and love the fabrics and furniture I surround myself to be soft and inviting. I love color and have never been afraid to incorporate it into my home whether with paint, art, furniture, or decor. I’m also lucky enough to have so many amazing artist friends who have given me the most beautiful pieces to display in my home.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Warm, eclectic, cozy, urban cottage

What is your favorite room and why? The living room. It gets the most light in the house and always feels so cozy. Buddy and I spend a lot of quality time hanging on the sofa together. When I put this space together I wanted it to look great, but I also wanted it to be comfortable. I always want people to feel like they can kick their shoes off and put their feet up.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I just got this new vintage Moroccan rug for the living room that I am in love with.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t worry about what other people are doing or what the current trends are. If you love it, that’s enough. Also, don’t rush it. Find the pieces that speak to you.
