I like to think of myself as an active person. I make sure to get moving every day, and since I’ve been teaching yoga for years as a passion side-gig, I am very conscious of listening to my body. Recently though, I’ve been experiencing some persistent back pain, and (as much as I don’t want to admit it) I know the culprit is the endless hours spent slumped over in front of my computer. Even right now as I type this, I can feel my back whining to me to change positions.

After lots of stretching, self-back-cracks, and forcing my boyfriend to massage me, I decided to seek out a more reliable solution. Thanks to Instagram (boy, does my algorithm know me!), I finally found an answer: the Chirp Wheel. And it seems I’m not the only one who has stumbled across this heaven-sent device; hundreds of TikTokers are out there showing followers how they use the wheel, not to mention the thousands of reviewers who swear by the device. Even better: Right now it’s on sale for 33 percent off on Amazon!

The Chirp Wheel comes in four sizes, there are smaller wheels for smaller areas of the body (like the calves or neck), a 10″ wheel (which I have), and a 12″ version that’s extra gentle for larger areas. My medium-sized Chirp works well for a range of different body shapes and sizes and is ideal for rolling out the back. It’s specifically designed to massage the thoracic and lumbar portions of the spine — aka perfect for anyone with back pain from sitting all day. Unlike a traditional foam roller, which can feel too large or unwieldy, this wheel is just five inches wide. It’s comfortable enough to feel supported while you’re on it and narrow enough to easily store away when it’s not in use.

Covered in an eco-friendly, anti-slip coating, the outside of the ring provides a bit of padding atop the reinforced molded inner core (which can withstand up to 500 lbs). The wheel is hollow but sturdy, meaning it has some give, so you can find relief naturally, without forcing it. The Chirp‘s central spinal groove runs along the middle of the ring, supporting your vertebrae and simultaneously relieving pressure along the spinal cord and sides of the spine. The device essentially holds your spine straight while everything else falls back into its rightful place. It’s helped restore my back’s healthy S-curve after almost two years of leaning over in a C-shape for hours at a time.

Using my Chirp even once a day has completely revolutionized my work-from-home life. I love the routine of getting up for a quick break and stretching out my back. I get a pop every time, and it feels so much safer than the endless twisting I used to do in order to get my back to crack. Sitting in my living room, whether on calls or writing, I can notice my back feels less tight and angry. I love it so much I’ve even sent it to friends who work at dining tables or bedroom desks. I know they’ll thank me next time I see them. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m overdue for some time with my Chirp.

Buy: Chirp Wheel, $49.99 (normally $74.25)
