Hem’s Limited Edition Platform Will Shine a Light on Independent Artists

For many people, creativity sparked joy throughout a turbulent two years spent indoors. From unearthing a new passion project to crafting and baking, these are the things that got us through. So that’s why it’s more important than ever to highlight the talented independent artists and designers in the U.S., and beyond, that are helping to make our homes a happier place. Design brand Hem is doing just that, thanks to its new platform, Hem X.

Championing limited edition design and style, Hem X will focus on unique collaborations with talented designers from around the world. Hem Founder and CEO Petrus Palmér was inspired to create a platform that will allow the brand’s artists more creative input in the design process, removing the constraints that come with traditional product development. Hem originally began commissioning decorative accessories and unique homeware in 2019, and hanks to an increase in demand, the newer Hem X platform will be showcasing a more robust offering of ongoing collections and collectibles developed in collaboration with different curators, including Hem favorites Modern Design Review, and the Swedish interior decoration collective, Arranging Things.

“There is a strong yearning for the authentic and tactile, perhaps as a contrast to the screens we have in front of us every day,” said Petrus Palmér in a press release announcing the collaboration. “We like to think of the mass produced and the artisanal as complementary, and we love the idea of having both avenues under the Hem umbrella.”

For true authenticity, each piece sold under the Hem X platform will be signed and numbered, and will be available to shop via Hem.com. Inaugural pieces include 15 hand-crafted glass sculptures from Swedish glassmaker Rasmus Nossbring, a limited number of whimsical pink “cloud-like” sculptures from Swedish artist Lisa Reiser, and designer Jonatan Nilsson will be offering his “Power Plinth”, a decorative ornament crafted from resin-coated Styrofoam and finished with a laser-cut mirrored acrylic top.

Products sold as part of the Hem X platform will be available to shop from Mar. 23, with prices starting at €599.
