If you were to take a look inside my linen closet, you’d find a pile of beloved comforters, all of the large, plushy variety. When it comes to bedding, I adore comforters. I’ve been a longtime devotee of thick down comforters, even throughout the hot summer months (I’m a big fan of cranking up the AC when I sleep). However, as I recently moved to a new apartment, I wanted a change and decided that now was the perfect opportunity to experiment with different (and more eco-friendly) bedding. For the past few weeks, I have been testing out a comforter that’s completely out of my wheelhouse — the lightweight Coyuchi Diamond-Stitched Organic Cotton Comforter — and to say I’m sold is beyond an understatement.

Made from Coyuchi’s versatile crinkled percale fabric, this comforter is luxurious in both feel and design. It features double-needle diamond-shaped quilting that both houses the organic cotton batting and gives the undyed-cotton exterior (also available in Shadow and Alpine White) a gorgeous draped look. More of a duvet fan? No worries. This comforter will also work for you: It doubles as an insert thanks to the included corner loops for secure duvet anchoring (they’ve thought of everything!).

Now, I’ll admit it — when I first opened up this comforter I was a bit skeptical, as it was a lot lighter than I had (naively) expected. However, after trying it for just a couple of nights, I found myself liking it more and more. To effectively test it, I began using it at the beginning of spring so I could see how it worked on both cooler and warmer evenings. To my surprise, I found myself comfortable no matter the temperature. The cool, percale fabric kept me from overheating on hotter nights while the cotton interior kept me warm when numbers dipped. This lightweight comforter did such a great job at keeping me comfortable that I never once considered switching back to a thicker one. In fact, when I eventually went to the linen closet for a clean set of bed sheets, I looked at my old comforter pile and thought to myself, “I need to get rid of some of these.”

Another thing I love about the comforter is that it’s made with sustainability in mind. Since 1991, Coyuchi has been a leader in organic bedding thanks to its environmentally responsible production methods and buy-back recycling program. (The Coyuchi2nd Home Take Back program will recycle and renew your old Coyuchi linens and give you 15 percent off your next order!) Knowing that the products I’m investing in aren’t going to end up in a landfill is just one of many reasons this comforter is helping me sleep better at night. And now through 3/15 — during Coyuchi’s Refresh for Spring Event — you can save $30 off $200, $80 off $400, and $150 off $600, in case you needed a little more incentive. Here’s to better sleep, in every sense of the word.
